Then i went back again when you work from 12 years old and then at 14 years old you're working three jobs a paper route a movie theater and lied about my age and painted with my dad all summer and had to give my mom $25 a week and I earn $15 a day that was at 13 years old and that went on for the rest of my life I was in 6 car accidents one wanted to amputate my leg I invented fusion anyway when you're out of work you get depressed angry confused and you got to see a lot of doctors my accident gave me three shoulder surgeries every disc in my neck 5 in my back neuropathy RSD disease now my experience at livengrin finally I had wanted to get off of the Percocets because I never did them in my life a lifetime attic had all the old school stuff Quaaludes and all that junk and multiple different things you could go up down and everything was different anyway when I got the living grin there was many people I knew there I was surprised about how incredible it was the experience sharing with people our stories and lives and I had fortunately worked with six ministers from all different faith and had many debates and work and I shared them with the guys that was in my group about God and it was during the time when we had 30 in snowstorm one week and another 30 in in a week on Christmas and New Year's I went out into the yard and I drew a giant peace sign I wrote Love and Hope as big as the yard was in the back it's a beautiful garden there the moral of my experience is different than everyone else I had been around paint fumes for 44 years and I didn't realize the effect on myself and I had a strong minds and was very strong easy to get along with all livengrin done that I stayed the 28 days was help me to lower my dose and it was difficult not there you want to be in a hospital setting and they have that there it was very spiritual for me because I was learning things that I decided to do what other people had done to me be spiteful and angry Adam ignore them and I was never like that The the thing with livengrin is that they're so fantastic they will not help people on Medicare or Medicaid who want to do that and lower their dose that are willing to stay but there is no cure for RSD disease it's a pain disease I'd be willing to fight it again if you were a union member you had the gold card of you could go in and out of livengrin and live there if you wanted to if you were a high-ranking official you had it made all I meant was Union people in there very few were non-union they don't think that older people who have addiction issues or an even follow the prescription rules and see the best pain specialist in the city they can help they could be part of the whole process to actually they lowered my dose I was able to stay off of Vicodin 4 a month and then go to one when I had pain now my disease has progressed and I live with pain everyday and they don't have something that works the right way that blocks the receptor they tried giving me a site drug in there I was out of my skin and they didn't tell me that they upped the dose I didn't know what I was taking they were giving me meds to withdrawal and once you get over to the other side and decide that you're going to do the whole 28 days that's when it becomes real spiritual I think that they should help everyone even people who have these diseases with pain neuropathy and all that stuff and not just stick it to us there are 17 million Americans with chronic pain and there are 100 million Americans selling their chronic pain drugs hello

I must say, i was highly disappointed with the billing department. Very unprofessional, every time i called i was given an attitude and made to feel like i was *** when all i wanted to do was pay off a balance( that was incorrect anyway) i heard a lot of laughter and goofing around in the background. Someone needs to step up and get them in order. My bill was never paid and we ended up in collections because no follow up by the staff was made. I resolved it all on my own with the collections company. No help from billing.

Notifying court of class completion

took mandatory dui classes, completed course successfully. The courts where never notified of completion. this was roughly 2006. they now say they don't have any records that far back. this is bs.in the age of computers I find this hard to believe.nothing but a money grubbing organization.if there are records of me about everything in my past 50 years they should have my record from 10- 11 years ago. I bet if I was running for public office someone would be able to come up with my records.what a freaking joke.anyone considering going here,i would seek a better option than these people.it's all about the money and blackmail .

I was there in August 2009. Went through 5 days of detox and 28 day program. At that time they did not have the single houses. We had 3 people to a room. We were able to room if needed with permission. I found the counselor excellent the food very good and the facilities nice. I live in the city and needed to get out to Bensalem where i could escape the city environment. This is no 30K Country Club. They provide a good service . If you want to get clean!! NO ONE locks the doors so you are FREE to leave if you so choose. I am still sober and clean and do it one day at a time. I need to work the AA program to stay happy joyous and free.

Still trying to forget this experience

I entered LG about a year after the loss of my child to cancer. I had started drinking alcoholically and wanted to stop.

I first went to "intake" at LG's Fort Washington office. They did a medical work-up and I told them of my history of atrial fibrillation. I also told them my family doctor had prescribed klonopin since my child's death for sleep which I never abused - same small prescribed dose (1.25mg) at bedtime for over 2 years. They assured me that LG would help me stop my drinking, and may or may not consider doing a "taper" of the klonopin as well.

When I checked in at LG, the intake person told me that I would NOT be receiving any klonopin at LG, but they may use something called buprenorphine if they felt I needed it. I just shrugged and said "fine", having virtually no idea at the time about the dangers of abrupt benzo withdrawal and a history of atrial fibrillation. The first 3 nights without klonopin (or a taper) resulted zero sleep. So they started the "bupe" and assured me it would kick in shortly.

On the 4th night of no sleep I suddenly started to experience periods of irregular heartbeats - my a-fib was coming back! I was emotionally wrecked from lack of sleep and scared to death about the a-fib (which was solely related to benzo withdrawal as I had detoxed from alcohol 7 days prior - in the comfort of home - to minimize the discomfort at the facility and had experience no a-fib). Tracking down an MD at LG was fruitless and the nurses were less than sympathetic. It was obvious to me that, to them, I was just another addict crying for my drug.

I decided I had to get out of there to, literally, save my life (or, at the least, having to undergo another a-fib ablation procedure if my a-fib wasn't mediated quickly). So I resolved to leave and get help. The staff did not take kindly to my intention to leave and quickly "ganged up" on me…in essence calling me a quitter should I leave….making a decision I would "regret for the rest of my life" (looking back I think support staff meant well, but had no idea of the seriousness of my cardiac condition due to the incompetence of the "medical" staff). Finally frustrated by my resolve, they acquiesced, but made me sign an AMA form ("against medical advice").

When I asked what would happen if I didn't sign the AMA (knowing this would become part of my medical history and making it almost impossible to obtain life insurance…which turned out to be true), they said I wouldn't be allowed to leave! Really? Knowing I had to get out of there for my own health, I signed off. The final humiliation came in my room as I packed up.

The head honcho marched in and slowly & silently "ripped" my name tags off my bed and dresser and "frisked me" to make sure I didn't have any LG property. Did you ever see the show "Branded". Well, I sure felt "branded"…ashamed, emotional wrecked, experiencing a-fib, having accomplished nothing of my original intent to stop drinking, and headed home to a family who would surely look at me as a quitter. Only 5 days!

What a mess I was in! Immediately after "release" I met with my doctor who was "floored" by my experience. He then educated me on the danger of abrupt benzo withdrawal and atrial fibrillation. He was struck by the lack of "common medical knowledge" LG exhibited.

He told me I was lucky I didn't try to "gut it out" as entrenched a-fib (or a even a heart attack) was a likely outcome. Incensed, he fired off a letter to either LG or the State (I don't recall). It took me quite a while to "recover" from my "recovery" attempt. I still desired to stop drinking but the LG experience left me terrified and ashamed.

My family saw me as a "quitter". The pall of that unfortunate experience weighed on me for over 2 years which, of course, led to more guilt and heavier drinking. Eventually I was introduced to a private facility called Clarity Way. Actual MD's on staff (!) who understand the danger of abrupt benzo withdrawal and atrial fibrillation.

They also understand the concept that if you can't sleep it's hard to work on your brain to get better!! With their MD monitored slow taper (as originally promised by the LG staff in Fort Washington) it was easy! No lack of sleep and no a-fib which resulted in my being able to engage in comprehensive mental therapy and change. I left the CW 30 day program with a new outlook on life, sober from alcohol, and completely tapered off my small dose klonopin (which took less than 3 weeks when done correctly).

This month I celebrated one year of sobriety (!) by having chosen a facility that exhibits competence of fundamental medical knowledge. I suggest you do the same.

Livengrin dangerous!!! Not qualified MEDICALLY

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

After reading your review I was AGAIN appalled at the lack of Medically sound treatment provided at livengrin. You do not stop someone cold turkey from alcohol or BENZODIAZAPINES. You can die from it! As far as I know they do not use Medication assisted treatment except Naltrexone (oral witch has poor compliance success) and Vivitrol a longer acting Shot.

I went there too unfortunately and

I have also been aware of a close friend who survived their negligence for the same reasons as yourself.

Also I felt the were entirely responsible for the death of a young opiate addict dying because of NOT PRESCRIBING life saving Medication assisted treatment. He relapsed because he was not supported physically for cravings with either, Buprenorphine(soboxone) OR methadone. The mother could have taken him anywhere. She did not know and trusted them.

They are not in my opinion safe to deliver addiction treatment except for very simple cases.( and none really are simple are they) They refuse to embrace new science.

How do you stop them or get the information out so they are not used any longer?????

Anyone suffering from moderate to severe alcohol/benzo withdrawals MUST be given proper medication. I could never go to this facility because I would end up dying as I suffer from grand mal seizures during withdrawal. If this place messes with peoples' lives like that, with non-medical detox, that is horrifying.

Guest

what a joke...take no responsability for the ADDICTS actions. Treatment for addictions is NOT medical (suboxone and methadone) those are just more of the same.(mind alterting drus) Addiction is treated through fixing what made you use in the first place...Addiction is PRIMARY..and must be treated BEFORE axiety and depression etc.

you are so ignorant. I was there and recevied FULL compliment of medical detox etc. and it would NEVER happen at Livengrin..where a patient was not given the correct detox medicine.

I am sorry your friends son died..but Livengrin had ZERO to do with it..in fact, it probably gave him a fighting chance IF he actually WANTED the help. Dont lecture me on addiction until you have walked in these shoes..so save the response.

Livingrin Foundation is an unprofessional facility. They had a family member there and would not allow him to transfer out, they did this in a manipulative and controlling manner. First of they never informed him that an alternant program wanted to interview him on request of the family, they would not begin, nor discuss transfer proceeding with the other program. Staff also turned this young man against his close knit family! We have two weeks of unanswered emails to various staff members including Ms Saville, Ms Cohen and William J. Lorman, Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer. They did this by sharing private email complaints which were sent to the above mentioned individuals with the young man. These were sternly worded complaints which the staff went and informed the young man were "unprofessional", even letting him read the emails. Who does this, and why? When I made a public complaint on a social media forum like this one, I was threatened by William J. Lorman with legal action! This is scary. This is a very cultish and scary place.

Daily life is like minimum security prison

No indication that cell phones or electronic devices were not permitted, ever. Advertisement for the facility makes it look luxurious. Far from it! There is no system of reward or trust over your stay. Eat, recreate, learn, socialize, and live like prisoners. Escorted everywhere, 25 persons to a single home, no access to the home once you leave until bedtime crammed into lecture rooms. Doesn't matter whether you are the worst, most defiant, and uncooperative resident or the most serious about recovery, they are all herded like cattle throughout the facility. Food horrendous! One thing they make you realize over time is that YOU NEVER WANT TO GO BACK!

I cant read these any longer..the addicts mind is so warped it pains me. The guy writes "we are escorted everywhere and cant go back to the 25 people house after we leave" SO genius why do you think that is?

The place is filled with lying manipulating addicts! YOU want trust 7 days after leaving detox? You want reward like a cell phone 10 days after detox. What are you 10 years old and want a participation trophy.

Maybe you didnt listen in the basement. THIS IS A FIGHT FOR YOUR LIFE...its not suppose to comfy cosy. Too many times in the past people would sneak drugs into facility so we need to be escorted so someone doesnt run out of the woods and hand us stuff...OR did you ever think people would be and did *** in the houses if you could "come and go" as you please? Here it is in summary.

(everyone pay attention) IF YOU CANT FOLLOW simple rules during 3o day stay in rehab..then leave...you are sure to relapse.

This is not suppose to fun, comfortable, or anythinig except ***..*** in the sense that finally your brain can fathom that you ALMOST DIED, and the road ahead is HARD...and rehab, if taken seriously should make you feel UNCOMFORTABLE...it did me, and it worked, because I took it serioulsy and didnt complain about not having my cell phone (which I would have used to get drugs delivered captain genius). I detoxed more from my cell phone then my drugs...but oh well, I am sober because of this "minimum security prison" and I will go on a limb and say, whoever wrote the article negatively about LIvengrin calling it a prison is either DEAD or USING> nuff said

I suggest if someone is paying out of pocket or their insurance is, they should carefully research where they spend their money when it comes to a rehab facility. There is no reason to be miserable and pay for the privilege.

There are A LOT of options out there, as rehab is a big and profitable business. Don't just go anywhere, be selective and make sure it's the right fit for you.

And, disregard negativity like the poster above in Sickville, NJ. An attitude like that will only bring you down and that is not what you need.

Wow. Let me break it down for ya.

I was there in December-January 2014. No I wasn’t ordered to go. The person who said it’s like a prison is absolutely correct!! You on the other hand are delusional.

I went for beer and I’ve been taking klonopin for 12 years they took me off that so that was painful. Of after the treatment I went back on and haven’t drank to this day so take your useless knowledge and stick it straight up your ***

Thank you for your feedback. We value all referral, patient and family member feedback and utilize it to consistently improve upon our facility and programs.

The Livengrin program stresses the safety, privacy and security of all our patients as the number one priority.

Therefore we provide a list of items that you should bring with you upon admission and also clearly outline those items which we recommend that you not bring. This list can be found here: https://www.livengrin.org/what-to-expect/.

We strive to provide a clean, comfortable and well maintained environment for our residential programs. Each of our residential homes can house up to 25 persons with adequate space to accommodate the daily activity for our patients.

All of the photos and representations of our facility are 100% accurate and real. We also offer tours of our facility so prospective patients may see the environment we provide.

We conduct a highly structured program which has been clinically proven to provide the best prospect for long term recovery. This program provides for progressive autonomy to our patients as they regain their health throughout their stay. Patients are permitted to return to the residences in the afternoon after focus groups and before dinner is served; although patients are escorted and supervised by staff who are available to provide guidance and direction during these times.

We offer several options for each meal to include a breakfast bar in the morning and salad bar option for both lunch and dinner.

While an individual is receiving services in our sub-acute detox, we have a fully stocked kitchenette which offers beverages, sandwiches, fresh fruit, and portioned snack packages.

Snacks are also provided in the comfort of the residential homes in the evening.

We would welcome an opportunity to speak with you directly, should you wish to do so. Please call our main number at 215-638-5200 and ask for the Business Development office.

Patient Dumping

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Livengrin is unethical and corrupt. They demanded $500 for one day's stay because they did not hear from the insurance company before the close of day.

The demand was to pay or they would send my daughter out. Never mind that she is barely 18, did not have a phone, no ID (she had lost her license), and had no money. They would not pay for transportation home (we live in Virginia) nor would they keep her until I could arrive. Complaining on the internet only relieves frustration.

To effect change, report a patient safety event to The Joint Commission.

They need this accreditation to remain solvent. To file a complaint, go to: https://www.jointcommission.org/report_a_complaint.aspx

Nurses Recovery treatment program

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

When attending this program I found it very inconsistent as I tried to put my life and professional identity back together. A treatment program need offer a means to regain strength and hope. It's purpose to teach the tools to make sobriety possible, however because of the number of new therapists in a very short period of time it was extremely difficult. The program did not seem to adhere to to 12-step principles that it emphasized.

Unfortunately for professional Nurses it is the only program in the area. Nurses come from other states to attend this program. For many of us we must attend this program in order to regain our licensure.

Follow up care IOP and GOP are also poorly organized. Again no continuity to care and therapy. Poorly managed by people NOT in recovery further reducing a viable effective program.

I did not find the program very supportive when I was there. I Often struggled just to keep up with the number of therapists. That was very very stressful and frustrating.

I wondered why the treatment center was unable to retain employees. Working conditions? I cannot comment about, but surly must be influential.

A program should be stable and consistent. More respectful to clients struggling to achieve successful sobriety. Relapse risks are encouraged to be listed as triggers. This program fit well in that list. Sobriety is enough of a challenge.

Principles taught as a program of growth and recovery need be modeled and followed by the directors / Heath professionals. One should not have to struggle with the difficulty of sobriety AND deal with a poor treatment structure.

Also a very effective less addictive alternatives for drug assisted treatment is not offered. (Soboxone and vivitrol) Why a treatment center would not make available these choices to clients is negligent in its delivery of care. All available options should be made available.

Overall I give this program poor marks. Is a shameful example of drawing in sick people for profit and delivering no real substantial or effective treatment,

Prospective Nurses needing treatment beware.

Absolutely no treatment plan provided. Therapists not in recovery, under 30 years old, unaware of the leading edge therapies and therapeutic advancements for addiction. Totally disorganized group meetings three nights a week. Family program was a joke, required but useless. As long as your insurance continues to pay you will be held captive. Many clients attending program on probation, attending to stay out of jail. Totally unprofessional program, EXCEPT for the reception is at the FW outpatient facility.

Medical Staff Did Care

I worked with the medical staff at Livengrin for about 1.5 years until late 2010. I don't know anything about over-paid senior staff or any misappropriation of funds as the medical staff had nothing to do with those areas of operation. We did have to ask what type of insurance prospective clients had because due to the economic climate, the facility would have had to shut its doors if they weren't reimbursed by insurers. I can honestly say that they would have loved to take in all clients regardless of insurance but could no longer afford to do so. From what I saw when I was there, the medical staff were compassionate and empathizing and always delivered the best care possible. As I said, I no longer work there and can only speak of the way it was when I was there. I have nothing to gain or lose and am just giving my objective opinion.

Unfortunately, I don't have any positive comments for this facility. It's not a professional environment. It's also a rather negative environment. I came out if there feeling very flawed, broken. There were a lot of patients who were disruptive, and their behavior was pretty much tolerated. We were treated more like inmates. I thought it was a good rehab...until I went to a different rehab one year later that treated me so very differently. I went to Father Maryin's Ashleigh in Maryland, which ended up costing less but was so much nicer!! I would not recommend anyone to go to Livengrin. It's simply not structured very well. And the medical care isn't very good. I went in 2012. Maybe they have turned things around there...but I wouldn't bet my life, or my loved one's life on it. I now have over two years sobriety.

Thank you for your review. I am not sure what facility you were at, but I can tell you in 2016 that the one in Fairless Hills, PA, is still dismal and negative.

The staff is extremely unprofessional and does nothing to protect patient privacy. Isn't that a violation of law now?

Misappropriated funds.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Having worked at Livengrin for a brief period of time, I witness the misappropriation of funds for leisure activities involving the senior staff. I was told it was none of my business and that certain employees were considered part of the 'Livengrin Family'.

There are also questionable relationships and perks for senior staff members. Not a positive or safe environment for patients seeking recovery. Livengrin is a profit seeking venture that has very little to do with addiction recovery.

Patients were often criticized in staff meetings and medical information was not secure or kept confidential. The inpatient facility is not a very sanitary environment.

Livengrin Foundation - Nursing Staff Review from Bellevue, Washington

NOT A MEDICAL FACILITY!!!! Nursing staff has no compassion 2 people died from not getting the correct meds and had seizures that killed them. Also.. a friend of mine went there after me and 3weeks after she left she found out she was three MONTHS pregnant. They are supposed to give all women a pregnancy test before giving them meds. I dont know of any test that wont show up positive when you are 2 months pregnant. Now she is faced with a difficult decision because she was on the detox drug.depacote which causes severe birth defects. All because the nursing staff didn't do there job. They do not care about you. If you don't have the.money or insurance, they wouldn't care if you OD`d infront of them.
